ThinkFilm wins rights to "Battle in Seattle” in Festival’s highest sale
U.S. rights sold to ThinkFilm at TIFF
Vancouver, B.C. —The U.S. rights to the Insight and Remstar produced feature film Battle in Seattle have just been acquired by ThinkFilm in a deal brokered by Endeavor Independent.
After a hugely successful premier at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, the film received a 15 minute standing ovation and great critical feedback. With four interested buyers, Endeavor Independent closed the sale with THINKFilm's acquisitions executives on Thursday, September 13 for U.S. rights to the film.
Insight Film Studios and Remstar hold the Canadian rights. International rights are being sold by Hyde Park International.
President of Insight, Kirk Shaw says of the deal, “We are excited that ThinkFilm will be releasing Battle in Seattle in the U.S. market. This partnership will help both Insight and ThinkFilm benefit and grow through the release and success of this project, taking both companies to the next level.”
These sentiments mirror the thoughts of President of Remstar, Maxime Rémillard who says of the deal, “We are proud that Battle in Seattle was successful at the Toronto International Film Festival and are glad that Thinkfilm is collaborating with Remstar and Insight to introduce the film in the US territory. “
Battle in Seattle is set to show at the Vancouver International Film Festival on Wednesday, October 3 at 7pm and Saturday, October 6 at 11am. Director Stuart Townsend and some of the cast are expected to attend.
