Vancouver, B.C. — British Columbia’s busiest independent production company, Insight Film Studios is set to start lensing two exciting new movies of the week this month. From the story of a one-night-stand gone wrong to the tale of a freshman fish-out-of-water, these are just two of the many large-and small screen productions on Insight’s slate this spring.

Empty Arms
Laura Leighton Savant, best known as the flame-haired vixen from TV’s Melrose Place, plays a classical music critic and historian who becomes pregnant after an uncharacteristic one night stand with a country music star, played by Antonio Cupo (The L Word, The Lizzie McGuire Movie). Her quest to find the perfect family to adopt their baby turns into a journey of self-discovery and love for the both of them. The MOW also stars Vancouver actress Ellie Harvie, who starred as Morticia in The New Addams Family, and has appeared in the TV series Men in Trees and Blood Ties.

Directed by David Weaver, the drama is expected to air this fall on Global in Canada and Lifetime in the United States.

Ratko Volvic, played by Efren Ramirez (Napolean Dynamite, Employee of the Month), is the privileged son of a wealthy Eastern European dictator who enrolls for the freshman semester at an American university, where his exotic accent and hedonistic ways soon establish him as the most colorful character on campus. But when he falls hard for a student activist, played by Katrina Bowden (30 Rock), he begins to question his father's true character and the source of his family’s apparently inexhaustible wealth.

Directed by Savage Steve Holland, the MOW is expected to air on Sci-Fi Channel this fall.
