Kate Jackson stars in locally shot thriller
Vancouver, B.C. — British Columbia’s busiest independent production company, Insight Film Studios is lensing an exciting new movie of the week this month, A Mother Behind Bars. This is just one of the many large-and small screen productions on Insight’s slate this year.
A Mother Behind Bars is a taut, nail-biting drama about a woman who has been imprisoned for the brutal murder of her husband. When beloved Seattle Tribune columnist and community hero Jack McBride is bludgeoned to death in his home, the only suspect is his wealthy wife of six months, Maureen Avery. Found passed out on a combination of antidepressants and alcohol, she has no recollection of the night in question. Although all evidence points directly to Maureen, her daughter Jo Avery sets out to prove her mother’s innocence. As her investigation deepens, it seems there’s no one in town who wasn’t somehow caught up in Jack’s scandalous secret life of gambling and womanizing. Now it’s up to Jo alone to figure out who’s guilty of Jack’s murder and to clear her mother’s name. The show began filming locally on September 14.
Directed by David Winkler and executive produced by Tim Johnson, A Mother Behind Bars stars Kate Jackson (Charlie’s Angels) in the title role, Brooke Nevin (I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer) as Jo, and Steve Francis as Jack McBride. The movie is expected to air this winter on Global TV.
