CAMERAS SET TO ROLL ON TWO NEW INSIGHT FILM STUDIOSí PRODUCTIONS

Vancouver, B.C. — British Columbia’s busiest independent production company, Insight Film Studios is set to start lensing two exciting new movies of the week this month. From the story of a demonic child with murder on her mind to the tale of an ancient book with supernatural powers, these are just two of the many large-and small screen productions on Insight’s slate this spring.

Perfect Child
A woman is haunted by guilt after the accidental drowning death of her stepsister while the girl was under her care. Years later, this trauma has left her wary of the role of motherhood and skeptical about relationships. Now a high-powered publicist, she has just fallen in love with a successful client who’s raising his young daughter alone. Despite a promising start, the relationship soon begins to falter. Damaging secrets about their respective pasts mysteriously emerge, which they assume to be the work of his jealous ex-girlfriend. But, alone in a remote location one night with her boyfriend’s daughter, the woman discovers that it was the daughter who engineered the troubles all along in an attempt to sabotage her. Now that the plan has failed, the perfect child makes one last stab at trying to kill her.

Written by James Phillips and directed by Terry Ingram, the movie stars Rebecca Budig (All My Children), Lochlyn Munro (Smallville) and Nicole Munoz (The Last Mimzy). Perfect Child, executiveproduced by Kirk Shaw and Stan Kamens, begins shooting on May 9. It’s expected to air on Lifetime this summer.

Devil’s Diary

When two friends, Ursula and Dominique, unearth an ancient book in a graveyard one night, they discover that it has the power to grant their any desire. Dominique soon realizes the hard way that the book fills all who possess it with a feeling of ultimate power, but it’s a power that eventually destroys its owner. As she witnesses Ursula’s escalating acts of violence, it’s up to Dominique to attempt to dispose of the book as many others have tried (and failed) to do before.

Directed by Farhad Mann and executive produced by Kirk Shaw and Tim Johnson, Devil’s Diary stars Alexz Johnson (Instant Star) Magda Apanowicz (The L Word) and Deanna Casaluce (Degrassi: The Next Generation). It goes to camera on May 10, with an anticipated air date of early fall on Lifetime, Alliance Atlantis and Sun TV.
